Ronan - John
Ronan-John, born in Seoul South Korea in 1980, is an artist, transracial adoptee raised in France.
Since 2014, he has been documenting the search for his origins through analog photography.
Self-taught, he experiments with this medium to unravel the thread of family history and encounters that happened along the way, in search of a singular identity and path.
“Film photography suits my personality. I identify with its slowness and rhythm. I like to take time with the people I photograph, to better capture fragments of what they agree to share with me. Spending time with them, from shooting to printing (even when they're not physically there) helps me bring them to life in my memory and to reconstitute an imaginary family, a dream tribe.”
His work as an author revolves around the theme of absence and the link everyone can create with the world around him to fill it.
